Event will raise funds for the Kelly Morrisseau Education Fund
OTTAWA – New Democrat MP Paul Dewar (Ottawa Centre) invites the community to a screening of Canadian film “Finding Dawn” on Wednesday October 7 at Carleton University. The event will raise public awareness about the tragic cases of 500+ missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada, particularly Gatineau woman Kelly Morrisseau.

OTTAWA – New Democrats welcomed the government’s decision to review the proposed sale of Nortel’s Enterprise Solutions Business and shares of Nortel Government Solutions and DiamondWare to US telecom company Avaya. New Democrats called on the government not to allow the sale unless Canadian jobs are protected and Nortel workers’ pensions, severances and long-term disability benefits are secured.

Government mismanagement of the file has wasted $13 million

Emergency committee needs to consider tangible and practical solutions
OTTAWA - New Democrat Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar (Ottawa-Centre) will propose a plan today to ensure the government provides better protection for Canadian citizens abroad. This includes new legislation, currently being drafted by Dewar’s office, which will put an end to ‘conditional citizenship’ and provide consistent protection to all Canadians while abroad.
